Prepare a project

When working with topographic production workflows, the Topographic Production Manager (TPM) web app can provide a holistic view of an organization's workload.

Get started in the TPM app by creating a project and configuring its map.

Note:

If a group was created to manage administrator privileges, the Design tab is only available if the Shared update toggle button in Group designations is clicked on in the portal group settings.

Create a project

To create a project, complete the following steps:

  1. Click on the Design tab if it's not already the active view.

    Project properties appear under an active CREATE PROJECT tab.

  2. Provide a name for the project in the Name text box.

  3. Provide a description of the project in the Description text box.

  4. Provide the start date for the project in the Start Date text box.

    Tip:

    Click on the calendar icon in the text box to choose a date from a calendar.

  5. Provide the end date for the project in the End Date text box.

    Tip:

    Click on the calendar icon in the text box to choose a date from a calendar.

The project's properties are set. The map settings must be configured.

Configure the map

After the project's properties have been set, configure the project's map settings by completing the following steps:

  1. Click on the MAP tab.

  2. Click on the Area of Interest drop-down arrow and choose the corresponding index layer.

  3. Click on the Basemap drop-down arrow and choose a basemap for your project.

  4. Specify the longitude and latitude values in the Longitude and Latitude text boxes for the coordinates that your project should center on.

  5. Provide a numerical value in the Zoom Level text box that corresponds to the extent of the project.

    Tip:

    Preview the extent and location on the adjacent interactive map. Adjusting this map updates the specified values.

  6. Click SUBMIT.

The project is created and appears listed in the side pane. Click Create new project at the top of this pane to create another project or update a project's settings by selecting it from the list and providing new values for the project's properties.

Note:

When updating a project's settings, the CREATE PROJECT tab becomes the UPDATE PROJECT tab.
